Inspired by real events
That "inspired by" line may sound like a TV movie you've watched, but it's true in this case. My great-great-great-great grandfather, Daniel Prince, came to this country in 1776 to fight against our rebellious American forebears. Taken prisoner at the Battle of Saratoga in New York — the first great victory for the Continental Army — Daniel escaped while being marched to imprisonment in Virginia. Not too long after, he settled in Central Massachusetts, started a farm, and met the girl next door, my great-great-great-great grandmother, Mary Packard. If you are interested in discovering details about your own ancestry, the story of my own family research may help you. Click on Ancestry, left, and you'll learn about how I started with some notions about the Princes and discovered that their lives were much more interesting than I had even imagined.
